Selective family lands in the Northern Isles of Orkney and Shetland,initially held under feudal law, such as those of Sir William Sinclair,1st of Warsetter(from 1500/4),Justice of Orkney(c.1487/9-1522),were gradually feudalised,with the main estates,under his lineal great-grandson Hew/Hugh Sinclair,Sheriff-Depute of Shetland(1583-7), being est.as the Shetland-based Feudal/Territorial Barony of Br(o)ugh(1563/87).
